wp-simplecode

wp-simplecode is a very simple plugin for WordPress that takes standard markup and processes it for use within code examples. It is inspired by Dan Cederholm's SimpleCode script.

I recently discovered that line breaks were not being added to wp-simplecode's output. I honestly do not know if this is the result of something that has changed on my server, or my recent WordPress upgrade. Because of this, I've made one very small change to the plugin.

wp-simplecode has been successfully tested on WordPress versions 1.5.3 and 2.x versions up to 2.2

A version of wp-simplecode that is compatable with WordPress 2.1.x is now available below.

Installation is simple.

  1. Download the zip archive and extract the files. There should be two files in the zip archive, a README.txt and wp-simplecode.php
  2. After reading the README.txt, upload wp-simplecode.php to your WordPress plugins directory. (E.g. /wp-content/plugins/)
  3. The plugin should now appear under the Plugins tab in admin panel with the name "SimpleCode for WordPress"
  4. Activate the plugin.
  5. A new tab named SimpleCode will now appear under the 'Write' tab in the main administration menu.
  6. That's it!

Thanks go to Dan Cederholm for being the first person to make such a cool utility publicly available, to God for giving me the patience and the time to finish this today, and to Starbucks for the wonderful Doubleshot espressos they make.

Nice :)

For the SVN builds you may want to create a second copy of the plugin that references 'post-new.php' - check out my entry on it.

 Oy, can you link to a demo? I'm not sure if this is exactly the right plugin I'm looking for.

4 On April 19th, 2006 whoo answered:

The demo is in the post. The plugin does exactly what Dan's original SimpleCode does. If you take a look at his, you'll get the idea.

hope that helps!

Hello Whoo :) I just wanted to inform you that your plugin is not in the Wordpress 2.1 Plugin Compatibility List.

It would be really nice if your plugin will be compatible with the future Wordpress 2.1 :D

8 On January 13th, 2007 whoo answered:

hello Ibnu,

I'm aware of that. As WordPress 2.1 isnt quite final, getting close, but not quite yet, I'm not feeling pressed. Matt's own timeline is suggesting the 22nd of this month, so I have next weekend to work through any issues my plugins might have with 2.1

It's really only the plugins that have areas in the backend that are affected, so I've only a few to concern myself with.

Don't worry, I'll get em done :)

Hi,

My wishes for developing such cool stuff…

We have a wordpress-mu (1.2.1) intalled and there are several blog sites are running under it.
I have a requirement that needs to be fixed.
Weve had issues posting HTML into wordpress. Wordpress wants to format the html after we post an article. Even if we only use the Code tab (Use the visual editor when writing is enabled) , the wordpress system will try to format what was pasted in. Here are some examples of the formatting:
formats out javascript tags
adds after each carriage return
changes - - to

Please look into creating a plugin that will bypass *all* the formatting when we post an article through the Code tab.

Please suggest if this plugin will solve the above requirement. Also if there are any other resource also please do suggest.

Thanks
Naveen

I like to use 'curl' on my webserver to download plugins to reduce the number of steps, and your silly redirect link doesn't play nicely with curl. I may not be the only one…
